Sunday 15th October – bike *** – Two Rivers, Orwell to the Deben with lunch at Landguard – Sunny but cooler.

Another lovely winters day, wall to wall sunshine but definitely much cooler now, did not think of sailing as the NW wind was supposed to drop quickly so did not even checkuntil lunch time when I discovered there might have been enough breeze to foil but I had such a good day yesterday I was not bothered instead I enjoyed doing my exercises in a sunny warm corner in our garden while Mag continues to put her little garden to bed for the winter. Being such a nice day we decided to take our lunch to Landguard and biked down through Landguard park around one. There was a good breeze blowing down the Orwell so we sheltered behind a concrete bunker by the small woodern pier enjoying the sunshine glistening off the water. We then caried on to where we usually sit on the old pier which is now being covered with concrete for some strange reason and lots of the old wood has sadly disappeared:( Back across the reserve and as the floods gates are now closed for the winter I could not access the prom until near the new café just past The Manor Martello tower! Mag could not face the busy prom so took the road home while I carried on slowly to the Fludyers as it was very crowded! It was much quitier arounf at The Dip end, with the wind offshore the sea was very flat but there were waves crashing up the concrete steps! The tide was whizzing out at Felixstowe Ferry and there was a flock of dunlins on the shingle bank! I watched the ferry head to Bawdsey, a quick spin around the boatyard and home to shortest route – nice weekend:)
